Drawing on his strong attachment to this historic brasserie - a veritable institution in La Rochelle - his love of local produce and his technical savoir-faire acquired over the years, MOF chef Johan Leclerre has created at Bar André a cuisine that is both sincere and generous.
This native of La Rochelle and son and grandson of fishermen, takes great care with his side dishes that include homemade fries, roasted new potatoes, melt-in-the-mouth ratatouille-style vegetables, and more. He works with freshly caught fish, using modern flavours and expertly blended jus to create dishes that are both delicious and uncomplicated, such as moules marinières, Calabrian mussels, a Charente-style mouclade, grilled whole sea bream with its vegetable vierge sauce, home-smoked cod with herring butter, and not forgetting his speciality creamy risottos, served either as a main course or a side.
Bar André is perfect for organising group meals, and can also be used for private functions, depending on your requirements.
